The annual meeting brings together CFOs and Controllers to assess the industry.
The 2015 NationaLease Financial Officers Meeting took place on October 19-20 at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, AZ. In a very full day and a half, the group of CFOs and Controllers from NationaLease member companies discussed many of the hot issues facing financial executives today. The meeting kicked off with this year’s meeting chair, Rick Fox, Vice President of Finance for Aim NationaLease, welcoming attendees and introducing Nate Sachs, Founder and Owner of Blueprints for Tomorrow. Nate’s presentation focused on dealing with the “what ifs” that keep executives awake at night and gave many key action items for the group to take back to their organizations. Danny Badovinac, Sales Executive & Business Analyst with Cottingham & Butler, followed to inform the group of potential gaps in insurance coverages. Joselle Galis from Media Brand Publishing joined the group to provide some information on the importance of having a social media presence, and Steve Toomey, Partner at BKD, rounded out the morning session with a discussion of strategy & design, fiduciary responsibility, and regulatory compliance of 401K plans.
After lunch, the sessions continued with Derek Messulam, Vice President of Channel Sales for Decisiv, who shared an update on the new NationaLease Fleet 20/20 program, the proprietary customer web access program being developed in a partnership between Decisiv and NationaLease. Jane Clark, VP of Member Services for NationaLease, shared some new programs and services available to the membership through NationaLease. Jeff Toppel, Employment Lawyer with Jackson Lewis P.C., updated the group on recent changes to employment laws, and the afternoon concluded with the always-popular Best Practices Round Table, where the members asked and answered questions on a variety of topics, including wire fraud, tolls, fuel taxes, ELDs, IRP and IFTA, credit reviews, insurance certificate tracking, inventory variance tracking, mentor programs, and CRM systems.
Day two began with a presentation from Joel Jorgenson with Peoplenet, who provided information about the Electronic Logging Device Rule. Jeff Grygiel, Vice President of Credit for NationaLease, followed to discuss the NationaLease invoicing, billing, and dispute process. The group then moved the meeting to the nearby Aim NationaLease shop in Phoenix for a tour of the facility and discussions around their parts room, mobile service, and shop functions.
Next year’s Financial Officers Meeting will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 17-18, 2016.
