We’ve been tracking the statistics for the health of long-haul truck drivers for a while. A 2009 study of drivers found that obesity, one of the biggest contributors to other health issues like heart disease and diabetes, was much higher in truck drivers than in the general population: 50% to 35% respectively. The bad news is, it’s only gotten worse.
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 7 out of 10 long-haul truck drivers are obese; that’s twice the numbers for U.S. adult workers. The infographic below is alarming…and it should be. But this is a health issue over which you can gain control, as the infographic also shows.
