The 2015 Sales Meeting, titled “Smooth Sailing for Sales,” took place in Fort Lauderdale on November 17 and 18. Jane Clark, Vice President of Member Services for NationaLease, welcomed the capacity crowd and introduced Dean Vicha, NationaLease President, who kicked off the meeting with some opening remarks. Joe Gallick, Senior Vice President of Sales for NationaLease, and Joe Puff, Vice President of Truck Technology & Maintenance, followed to share the latest technology initiatives in National Accounts, including the new NationaLease Fleet 20/20™ program. The afternoon continued with an interactive session from the NationaLease National Account Executives who updated the attendees on current accounts, prospective accounts, and their experiences in their respective markets. The opening day concluded with a Trade and Technology Reception attended by several of NationaLease’s Premier Partners and suppliers.
The second, information-packed day began with a look at the Present and Future of Safety Technologies. Kevin Grove, Research Associate for Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, shared some results from his research focused on commercial driver behavior and safety as well as some insights on the types of technologies available both today and in the very near future. The next session—a Review of the Second Round of Truck GHG and Fuel Efficiency Standards—was presented by Glen Kedzie, Vice President, Energy & Environmental Affairs Counsel, for American Trucking Associations. Glen shared a review of the new regulations and what impact it will have on fleets and customers. A lively panel of Vice Presidents of Maintenance followed, discussing the current landscape, issues, and regulations regarding maintenance, as well as their thoughts on fuel economy gains, engine longevity, and equipment. Tom Boyer, Vice President of Maintenance, Hogan Truck Leasing, Inc., a NationaLease Member; Joe Puff, Vice President of Truck Technology and Maintenance, NationaLease; and Jim Ryan, Vice President of Operations, Kris-Way Truck Leasing, Inc., a NationaLease Member, answered questions from both Jane Clark, the moderator, and audience members during this interactive session. The morning wrapped up with Jay Shorr, Founder and Managing Partner of The Best Management Business Solutions, Inc., who asked, “Are you ready for the ELD mandate?” Jay shared an update on the latest details of the Electronic Logging Device rule and what the rule means, as well as compliance issues specific to the renting and leasing industry.
The afternoon’s concurrent workshops for Sales and Sales Management featured Craig Lowder, President of MainSpring Sales Group LLC, who conducted a Sales Management workshop, and Bob Lambert of Samurai Business Group, LLC, who helped the salespeople “ Put the Win Back in Your Sales.” These hands-on workshops allowed attendees to hone their skills in their respective areas. The general sessions wrapped up with an update on programs and services available to NationaLease members from Jane Clark, and an overview of the NationaLease capital equipment and supply management programs from Scott Marzec, NationaLease Member Programs Manager. The meeting concluded with a closing dinner.
Next year’s Sales Meeting will be held in New Orleans on November 16-17, 2016.
