NationaLease Holds 9th Young Executives Club Meeting

On February 6-7, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV, the NationaLease Young Executives Club Members held their ninth meeting.

The NYEC reinforces the relationships between these current and future leaders of NationaLease.  The meeting began with an introduction of the members, which included four new additions to the group, followed by an enlightening business outlook discussion where the group shared their experiences in their marketplace, as well as what they’ve been facing with rental utilization and the competition.  After a short break, NYEC members continued their candid conversation with an open discussion regarding challenges they face in sales, management, and operations.  Following a well-deserved lunch, Kelly Kordowski provided an update on some of the exciting new things happening at the home office, including the Member Websites, job postings site, and NationaLease’s strategic partnership with Universal Technical Institute (UTI).  The group continued their meeting with a presentation from Frank Sheehan, Director-at-Large of the NationaLease Board of Directors, who encouraged the group to work with the Board Committees on current initiatives.  Wrapping up day one was a presentation from Sandra Zehner, Director of Industry Employment for UTI, who shared tips and tricks for recruiting and retaining technicians.  The group enjoyed an intimate dinner at NewYork, NewYork on the Las Vegas strip and kept the networking going well-after the day’s meeting ended.

The NYEC reconvened on Friday morning with an interesting presentation from on-board technology guru Eric Manegold of Zonar Systems.  Eric provided some helpful information on things to consider when selecting an on-board technology company and the many facets involved.  After a quick break, the final session continued the lively dialogue when members reviewed pressing issues and topics amongst the group.  The meeting was closed with an invitation to the next NYEC meeting to be held on July 17-18 in Indianapolis, IN, in conjunction with a supplier tour held at Allison Transmission.  A special thank you goes out to the meeting Chairman, Jesse Toppins, Valley Truck Leasing NationaLease and the rest of the planning committee:  Mark Miller, Miller NationaLease; Andy Sommer, Public Service Truck Renting Inc., a NationaLease Member; Andrew Flynn, TCI Leasing/ Rentals, a NationaLease Member; and David Deon, Velocity Truck Rental and Leasing, a NationaLease Member.
