The NationaLease Spring Business Meeting in conjunction with TRALA was held March 12-14, 2013 in Naples, FL. NationaLease had a strong contingent of members present for the meeting, which combined general sessions for the entire industry with some sessions specific to NationaLease.
The NationaLease portion of the meeting began on Tuesday afternoon with a welcome from Tom Bylenga, NationaLease Chairman of the Board of Directors, and President of Star Truck Rentals, Inc., a NationaLease Member. Tom welcomed the large group of attendees with some good news about the growth of NationaLease over the past year, and shared some highlights of what the Board of Directors has been working on. Tom then introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Betsy McCaughey, former Lt. Governor of New York and Fox News contributor, who is an expert on the Affordable Health Care Act. Dr. McCaughey presented an in-depth review of the law, and how it will affect small businesses. She also presented attendees with a copy of her book, “Beating Obamacare: Your Handbook for the New Healthcare Law.” Following Dr. McCaughey, Noel Perry of FTR Associates shared his insights on the trends in the transportation industry. In addition to his projections regarding capacity and truckload pricing, Noel shared his predictions about the future of CNG/LNG and his recommendations to companies that are considering investing in alternative fuel vehicles. The afternoon concluded with a presentation on Maximizing your Website. Adam Melson of SEER Interactive shared ideas to help drive growth and sales through making the most of your current website. He also gave some simple and inexpensive recommendations for updating and upgrading your website for more visibility to your customers.
On Wednesday afternoon, NationaLease held a closed session. Members were invited to attend and bring questions, ideas, and suggestions to strengthen NationaLease and take it into the future. Dean Vicha, President of NationaLease, opened the session and introduced Jane Clark, Vice President of Member Services, who updated members on the many programs and initiatives that NationaLease is working on. She provided updates on the growth of NationaLease over the past year, and plans for future growth, ongoing programs to assist members in recruiting technicians and drivers, the many marketing initiatives underway, the progress of the Reciprocal Service Rally, the National Account Rental Program, NationaLease Road Rescue, upcoming meetings, and also handed out the Rebate Statements to all members in attendance. Jane was followed by David Nitzsche, Sr. Vice President of Supply Management, who provided a thorough overview of the purchasing programs, including a spend review of 2012, new and updated products and services programs, upcoming Webinars focused on supplier programs, updates on the Capital Equipment program, plans for 2013, an overview of the Leadership Teams, and the Top Ten programs that will save members money in 2013. Jeff Spence, Vice President of National Accounts, then gave a presentation on National Accounts. Jeff reviewed the definition of a National Account, the National Account rating guidelines, the protocol for awarding National Account business to members, the 2012 results and the 2013 pipeline, the changes to Centralized Billing and National Account Annuity billing, and finished with a report on Masters Club and the recent Masters Club winners. Dean Vicha wrapped up the day’s program and opened the floor for discussion. The NationaLease portion of the meeting concluded with a reception and dinner on Wednesday evening.
