NationaLease Members Answer the Call after Natural Disasters Strike

It’s been a really rough year for natural disasters…and it may not be over. But NationaLease members have proven their commitment to helping out communities affected by the storms.

There’s no question that 2017 has been a devastating year for natural disasters, especially hurricanes. Harvey, Irma, and Maria have wreaked havoc on the US and its territories. We’ve all seen how FEMA and the Red Cross have responded to the disasters, but they are not the only ones to do so. Companies throughout the country are working to help out communities in a wide variety of ways.

We are proud to see how NationaLease member companies have been playing a role in bringing much needed help and supplies to communities most affected by the storm. These are some of their stories:

Salem NationaLease, Winston-Salem, NC

Salem NationaLease saw the effects of Harvey and didn’t hesitate jumping into action. They donated the use of a refrigerated straight truck to the Houston Police Department to keep water and food available for first responders who were on the scene and doing much needed work, 24/7. They also provided several trucks and trailers, free of charge, to customers in Georgia and North Carolina to haul relief supplies to impacted areas.

Hogan NationaLease, St. Louis, MO

Hogan Driver, Chris Whittington, picked up a load in Cartersville, GA and delivered it to Beaumont, TX.

When Harvey and Irma hit, Hogan NationaLease stepped up to the plate, intent on making a difference for those affected by the hurricanes. In response to Harvey, Hogan partnered with Anheuser Busch and Fred’s Pharmacy to deliver truckloads of water to victims of the hurricane. Hogan donated the transportation while Anheuser Busch donated water for one truck and Fred’s Pharmacy of Georgia and the Dublin, Georgia community donated the water for another truck.

A local St. Louis community contacted Hogan to haul food and clothing, collected during donation drives, to Houston. This local program was coordinated by Central Reform Congregation. Hogan dropped a trailer at two different locations to pack all the items collected during the donation drives. Hogan then picked up the trailer and delivered the donations to World Harvest Outreach Church in Houston. To help out with the damage from Irma, Hogan is partnering with Cardinal Health to assist in a local relief effort for those impacted in Florida. Hogan is donating a truck and driver to deliver a trailer load of food, donated by a local supplier, to those in the Florida region impacted by the storm.

Kenworth of Southern California NationaLease, Fresno, CA

Kenworth of Southern California NationaLease donated its time, equipment and drivers to help out Harvey’s victims, especially the children. They loaded up over 1,000 boxes of supplies into 53’ trailers and their drivers transported the supplies to the Houston Unified School District. The donated supplies were collected by the Fresno Unified School District in Fresno, California and included school supplies, clothing and other items for students and staff in Houston schools.

Carmichael NationaLease, Chicago, IL

It’s not just hurricanes and not just our own nation that compels an act of kindness by our members. One of Carmichael NationaLease’s customers decided to organize a drive for those impacted by the horrific earthquake in Mexico. Carmichael donated a pallet of bulk items including flour, soap, sugar, cooking oil, canned beans, rice, feminine products, and more.

Thank you to our NationaLease members for a job well done!
