Palm Springs, CA, July 22, 2024 – NationaLease, one of the largest full-service truck leasing organizations in North America, recently concluded its highly anticipated 2024 Human Resources (HR) Summit at the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, CA. The two-day event held July 15–16, 2024 brought together HR professionals from the transportation industry for an exhilarating event packed with dynamic sessions, interactive activities, and countless networking opportunities.
The summit kicked off with an energizing welcome from Patty Durkin, retired chief human resources officer at Aim NationaLease, who set the tone for two days of inspiration and connection among HR leaders. Dean Vicha, president of NationaLease followed, providing an overview of current and future plans, and sharing strategic insights essential for navigating the literal road ahead. Jane Clark, senior vice president of Operations at NationaLease, discussed powerful tools and resources designed to enhance recruiting efforts and support organizational growth.
Guest speakers included Chris Czarnik, a former military officer turned HR visionary, who encouraged innovation in talent management, Alex Marx, attorney at Jackson Lewis, with important employment law updates, and Marilyn Surber, principal at Candela Professional Group, who spoke of adapting safety policies for a diverse workforce. Beth Barmore, recruiting and retention manager at Southland NationaLease, and Rhonda Holloway, senior partner at Six20 Partners, also led a session regarding the Predictive Index personality assessment for recruitment, retention, and team building.
An interactive Idea Session showcased innovative ideas and best practices across the industry. With big prizes at stake, participants were inspired and engaged, celebrating creativity and collaboration. The three session winners lauded for a novel and innovative idea as voted for by other attendees were:
- 1st Place: JB Rihm, Rihm NationaLease
- 2nd Place: Sylvia Mahfouz, TCI Leasing/Rentals, a NationaLease Member
- 3rd Place: Denise House, C&W NationaLease
The summit concluded with a discussion led by Durkin, where attendees exchanged ideas and insights, tackling common challenges and sharing effective solutions.
